Her story

Historical context

goddess · Iran, Avestan tradition through Pahlavi commentary

Daēnā means insight or inner vision — the faculty by which a person perceives what is true, and also the sum of their own choices. Zoroastrian texts treat it as both the eye and the record.

Mythology & traditions

At the Chinvat bridge the soul meets its own daēnā in the form of a figure whose beauty exactly matches the life it lived. Nobody is sentenced by a stranger; you are met by the self you made.
