Her story
goddess · German-speaking Central Europe; folklore recorded from the medieval period onward
Holda shakes out her feather beds and it snows on the world. She rewards the girl who works without being asked and marks the one who fakes it — an old goddess of winter and the spinning season, later half-tamed into a fairy-tale housekeeper.
Her season is the twelve nights of midwinter, when spinning must stop and the wheel rests. She rides with the dead through the storm and checks the linen cupboards of the living. Both the reward and the punishment in her stories are made of the same substance: what you actually did when nobody was watching becomes visible on your skin.

What you need to grow
Tend your home and your rest. The unglamorous maintenance is the work right now.
What you need to know
Effort shows eventually. Nothing you have quietly done or quietly avoided stays invisible.
