Her story

Historical context

goddess · Turkic-Tengrist belief; living Kazakh folk tradition

Zher-Ana (Jer Ana, 'Earth Mother') is the earth mother of Kazakh and wider Turkic Tengrist belief, paired with Tengri, the sky. Blessings and sayings still honor the land as a mother to be respected.

Mythology & traditions

Earth Mother language survives in blessings, proverbs and customary respect for pasture, springs and ancestral land. Rather than a single fixed narrative, Zher-Ana expresses the complementarity of earth below and sky above within Turkic cosmology. Spring grass and tulips make renewal visible after the steppe winter, joining fertility to responsibility toward the land.
