Her story

Historical context

goddess · East Slavic folk tradition

The Zoryas are sisters — the morning aurora who opens the gates of the sky for the sun and the evening aurora who closes them. Slavic charms call on them for protection, and one tradition sets them guarding the hound chained to the pole star, because if it slips the world ends.

Mythology & traditions

Soldiers asked the morning Zorya to spread her veil over them, and healers spoke dawn charms at the exact moment the sky reddened, when the gate stood open. The sisters' work is night watch: nothing dramatic happens as long as they keep doing it, which is precisely the point.

Her guidance

Maiden

What you need to sow

Start at first light. The opening is early, quiet and before anyone is watching.

Mother

What you need to grow

Nurture your thresholds — how you begin and end each day matters more than the middle.

Crone

What you need to know

Something must stay guarded. Do not unchain what you were keeping bound.
