Ifri

Lady of the Sheltering Cave

Ifri is described as an Amazigh (Berber) goddess of caves and protection. Some scholars link her name to 'Africa' and to the Roman Dea Africa. Sources are fragmentary, and modern descriptions are partly reconstruction.

Tislit n Anzar

The Rain's Bride

Amazigh legend tells of a radiant young woman loved by Anzar, the rain. When she agreed to join him, the rain returned to the parched land. Rain-calling processions in parts of North Africa carried a decorated figure called Tislit n Anzar, the Bride of the Rain.
