She Who Fell from the Sky
In Kanien’kehá:ka tellings of the Haudenosaunee creation account, Sky Woman fell from the upper world and was caught by water birds, who set her on the back of a great turtle. From soil brought up by the muskrat she helped make the earth, dancing and planting the seeds carried in her hand.
