Hārītī began in Buddhist narrative as a being who harmed children. The Buddha taught her empathy by briefly hiding one of her own, and she transformed into their protector.

Taleju Bhawani

Guardian of the Valley's Sovereignty

Taleju Bhawani became a tutelary goddess of Malla kings and remains important in the Kathmandu Valley. Her relationship with Kumari tradition is sacred and should not be reduced to spectacle.
