Berehynia
Guardian of the Hearth and the Riverbank
Berehynia (from bereh, 'shore' or berehty, 'to protect') is named in medieval sermons among old Slavic beliefs. In modern Ukraine she became a beloved symbol of the protective mother, and her figure with raised arms stands above Kyiv's Independence Square.
